April 19 1996 GENERAL NEWS News in Brief

Solicitors representing 965 people claiming to suffer from Gulf War syndrome learnt yesterday that the contract to lead the compensation case against the Ministry of Defence will go to another firm. Donn & Co of Manchester had been involved in the legal battle for compensation for Gulf War veterans since 1991 but last year the contract was put out for tender by the Legal Aid Board and in August 1995 was awarded to Dawbarns of King's Lynn, Norfolk. A re-examination of the two tenders has upheld the decision.
